STRING ALONGS: Thursday Craft Center

This morning Craft Center met as usual in the basement of my church. One class is working on the mitered heart designed by Vicki Sever and in the holiday issue of Interweave Knits. This is the second week of class but three people couldn't make it last week so we started over. Of course two of them hadn't knit from a chart before so it was a little tricky. And the really tricky part is when you start picking up other squares and adding on! There were a fair number of ladies there in spite of all the sickness going around, and the ladies off for vacation or other things. We meet for two hours every Thursday morning and two hours Thursday evening. I usually don't go in the evening unless there is a class I am interested in taking or I am teaching a class. I Like to go over to Loose Ends Yarn Shop Thursday evenings but I don't always get over there either. It depends on what kind of chaos is going on here at home!

There was a Knitting Challenge put out this weekend at the Winter Getaway From Loose Ends. After the Yarn Tasting, we were challenged to create something from all the samples of gorgeous yarns that Michele had prepared for us. We can knit, crochet, weave-whatever and we are allowed to add up to 2 more ounces. Well I have been working on my "item" since Sunday and have gotten something very interesting going so far. I didn't need to add any yarn since I had plenty to do what I had in mind. But now I need some fabric. I wish I had larger pieces of Japanese print but the pieces I have aren't quite large enough. I am going to Madison on Saturday and maybe I can talk Joe into stopping at that fabric store on Williamson Street. They have more unusual prints that might work. Or I can try to get out to Stitcher's Crossing but that is WAY out on the West side. I will have to see how it goes.
