Good Day for Knitting

Boy we are having another cool, overcast day! I am even wearing a sweater. But it has been a great day for knitting. I am making my first Tomten Sweater. What a cute sweater designed by the justly famous Elizabeth Zimmerman. I am knitting it from Berroco Nostalgia, a blend of cotton (46%), acrylic (30%), and nylon (24%). I got the yarn from Elann at $3.15 a ball cuz it was a discontinued color. I am really enjoying knitting this yarn. I wondered if cotton would make the garter stitch stretch out but I am going to put a zipper in it and that should help any drooping in the front at least. This is a very nice pattern and I am going to knit another one for a baby boy. This one is sized for a two year old. I am giving it to my cousin's little girl Isobel, who is already a year old so I want her to be able to wear it for a while!

Here are some pictures:

Here is a better shot of the hood:

This one gets the color best-a soft salmon and white.

I am also knitting that Morning Surf scarf by Jackie Erickson-Schwietzer (Jackie E-S) with Noro Silk Garden and Kureyon. I knit it many years ago but am really enjoying knitting it again with the great color of Noro yarns. This wouldn't have been my first choice of colors but it was yarn that I had and the pattern does show off the color changes nicely. I would prefer it in blues and purples for me, I think.
A fun and easy pattern.
Talk to you soon,
Lynda

Both are lovely items. I enjoy watching how the colours develop
