Crappy Weather

What a grey day! I have to turn lights on everywhere not to be depressed. It is no wonder people get SAD in the winter. I think I need some cheery music or something.

I am spinning some of that lovely grey fleece that I got from Susan-Romney I think. It is really lovely to spin. I am also knitting up a sample for a class I want to do with mitered knitting.

Got Mom's socks near completion-ripped out the elf socks I had started with a washable merino and bamboo blend. For some reason I was getting big ladders between the needles. And it was just to bulky for the pattern. I will try something else with that yarn. I have commissions to knit about five catnip mice but I will have to dig the yarn out for those and Joe kind of has the attic torn apart! Patrick also asked me to knit some fingerless mitts for James.

I finished a book by Dianna Wynn Jones last night.

I just love her writing! This was another in her Chrestomanci series and is a Juvenal but I enjoy her a lot too. I just joined an online book club to read the Forsythe Saga by Galsworthy. This is one of my all time favorite books and I have read it probably every other year for 25 years! Can't wait to discuss it with others.

I also have the new Terry Pratchett book to read called Wintersmith. It features the Wee Free Men and they are a hoot! The New York Times said about the first book in the series: "Like Celtic mythology fused with Buffy the Vampire Slayer." And Publisher's Weekly said, " What's not to love about a girl who takes on vicious monsters, armed only with a frying pan?" and gave it a starred review. Patrick already read it, (as he snapped it up before me) and he was laughing and reading me bits all through it.

The attic cleaning is moving along well. It means a lot of hauling things but it really needs to be done and it is a good way to start the new year I think. Clean up, use up, throw away; is my new motto!
Talk to you soon,
Lynda
Now there are more overweight people in America than average-weight people.
So overweight people are now average.
Which means you've met your New Year's resolution.
